Yes, there is a limit to the type of individual "Loans in its various stages and dependency status.
Federal Stafford loans have a maximum of 5500 for students in charge.
If you come up for a Perkins loan account (you'll need for a very low EFC) will have, you get over 5,500 (in Stafford), if the cost of participation is over.
Your parents can borrow more for you ... New to the cost of attending their school.
See table on page 21 for a very good distribution limits for dependent students and independent .... As you can see, independent students with a credit limit higher Stafford loan.
